My Chromebook is Slow
A Chromebook doesn’t work without an internet connection. Everything done on a Chromebook relies on fast internet speed and a solid wireless connection. We recommend that you connect using Xfinity, WoW, Frontier, or another high speed internet provider. Using your Cell Phone as a Hot Spot is NOT recommended.
You can test your internet speed here: www.speedtest.net Simply click the go button on the page.
Here is an example of the results:
We recommend that you have a minimum download speed of 12 mbps and an upload speed of 4 mbps.
If your internet speeds test lower than these, you will probably experience issues.
Turn off or stop using other devices in the home while using the Chromebook for school. Gaming consoles, streaming devices, Smart TVs, and other computers or devices can all reduce your internet speed if they are in use at the same time as the Chromebook.
If that doesn’t resolve the issue, you may want to contact your Internet Service Provider and see if they can increase your speed. If increased speeds are not offered by your current Internet Service Provider, and you would like to explore your options on getting faster internet, you could contact other Internet Service Providers and inquire about the speeds they offer for your address.

Turn Your Wireless Off & On
If you can’t access the internet, Click the wireless icon in the lower right corner that may say “disconnected” when you hover over it.
When you click the empty Wireless Icon, the menu will expand. Click the empty Wireless Icon in the top left of the menu that came up to turn the wireless back on. If you have connected to your wireless network previously, the Chromebook should reconnect to that network. If you have not connected to your wireless network before, you will need to select your home wireless network from the list and then enter your password to connect.
